This video shows Pia Toscano performing The Pretenders’ classic I’ll Stand By You. Which the American Idol Top 12 contestant does with aplomb. It takes a lot to impress me, but she manages to do so.
I have to say I was really impressed by this performance. Unlike the performance of Jacob Lusk from yesterday, which I really didn’t appreciate all that much, I agree with the positive comments being thrown in Toscano’s direction.
The show still feels a little tired to me, and I don’t particularly like any of the judges. Jennifer Lopez in particular is someone who I really could do without seeing on screen. Ever.
There’s also the feeling that the quality of the contestants has dropped over the years. Toscano and a couple of others are great, but overall I get the feeling we’ve already found the current crop of talent.
