Wife Swap certainly knows how to choose its couples. Ralph and Karen Guastaferro appeared on the show with their daughter Alicia in January 2008. And they’ve now admitted money laundering.

This video was shot way before that, and is one guy’s reaction to seeing the episode of Wife Swap. The couple came out of the whole thing so well that they had a hate video about them uploaded to YouTube.

And now it appears they weren’t just a couple whose parenting skills and actions drew hatred but they are also criminals.

The husband Ralph admitted laundering $1.2 million for a Canadian telemarketing scheme and now faces 46 to 57 months in prison. His wife Karen admitted failing to declare wages paid to staff and cheating the tax man. She faces 10 to 16 months in prison.

Maybe reality TV isn’t all that bad after all because it seems to have shown this couple up for who they really are. Few people who saw the episode would have liked the pair and that judgment seems now to have been proved correct.
