This YouTube clip is quite old now, but it’s also a classic piece of music history as REM teams up with The Muppets to cover Shiny Happy People

REM brilliantly change the lyrics to Furry Happy Monsters which makes perfect sense… kind of. I actually can’t believe REM actually agreed to do this show and change the lyrics of one of their finest records to boot.

This is one of those video clips which you want to turn away from but you just can’t do it. The whole scene astounds you too much and persuades you to keep watching long after your head tells you not to.

I always thought REM and Michael Stipe in particular were a bit dour and unfunny but this kind of goes along way to altering my view on them.
