Rock week is one of those notorious Idol themes. The contestants who love the genre typically soar, while the soul stars, the country hicks, and the folk singers tend to flounder.

So I was pretty nervous when one of my favorite Australian Idols, Roshani Priddis, got ready to rock. We’ve known her for oozing soul, so could she really find the grunt and hard edges it takes to rock? Yes she could!

Roshani set the bar pretty high when she chose to sing The Foo Fighters’ smash hit, “The Pretender.” But she delivered it with all the energy it needed, and then some. Like a true pro she stalked the stage and pounded her fist and I lapped it up.

With versatility like this, I think we’re bound to see Roshani in the competition for a long time to come!
