Ordinarily I wouldn’t give conservative rednecks the time of day. But when their spawn is suspended from school for wearing a homemade anti-Obama T-shirt, it’s worth sitting up and taking notice.

Did the decision violate the boy’s right to freedom of speech, or was it just good sense?

The boy’s class was told to dress patriotically for a day. So he took out a white T-shirt and some red and blue markers and created a shirt sporting the slogan “Obama is a terrorist’s best friend.” He was promptly suspended.

The boy’s father argues that his son should have been able to wear the shirt because he was exercising his right to free speech. The school says his shirt was distracting for the other students and inappropriate for a learning environment. Who’s right here?

Like any good American dispute I guess we’ll find out soon enough. The father is planning to sue the school. It’s the American way!
