Sherlock Holmes is opening in theaters everywhere today. This new version is a little different than all that have gone before, with Holmes and Watson having been brought somewhat up to date while retaining their essence.

Robert Downey Jr. plays Sherlock Holmes, with Jude Law taking the Dr. Watson role. Guy Ritchie, best-known for Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, has directed.

But what does Mark Kermode think of the movie? For those not aware of Kermode, he’s a movie reviewer in the U.K. who rather over-analyzes movies in a pseudo-psychological manner. At least for me.

Amazingly though, he likes Sherlock Holmes, making it the first Guy Ritchie picture he’s ever liked. Let’s be honest, it couldn’t be anywhere near as bad as Revolver, one of the worst films I’ve ever seen.
