Shocking 1960’s’ Cigarette Commercial | The Flintstones Caught Smoking?

Many of us recall watching The Flintstones growing up as a child. However, did you know that back in the 1960’s The Flintstones was considered an adults show much like Family Guy?

But what may come as the biggest surprise is the official sponsor of the very first season of The Flintstones: Winston cigarettes.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. In fact, the majority of TV shows in the 1960’s were sponsored by tobacco companies. These include Beverly Hillbillies, Dick Van Dyke, and I Love Lucy, all of which I watched as a child. Another 1960’s clique found in the commercial is it’s subtle sexism.

Notice how the women are doing the lawn work. My mother wouldn’t be caught dead doing that in today’s society.
