Last fall 15-year-old Malika Calhoun was the victim of a shocking beating. Her aggressors weren’t your average thugs on the street. They were the police. Now that surveillance footage of this shocking crime has been released, Malika has come forward to tell her story.
Malika was held in police custody after she was found joyriding in her friend’s mother’s car. It’s not the best thing to do, but I’m sure most 15 year olds have made such mistakes.
When Malika was told to remove her shoes, she kicked them at the officers. Big mistake. They slammed her up against a wall, and pulled her to the ground by her hair, where they proceeded to punch her.
The police said the young girl was “lippy.” I’m sure she was. She was a 15-year-old girl. But I’m sure we’d all agree that nothing justifies such a savage attack.
