There was one big winner at last night’s 2009 Oscars, and that was Slumdog Millionaire. The movie won eight awards, including ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Best Director’. Not bad for a joint Bollywood/British film project that was relatively low-budget.
This video shows the child actors from Slumdog Millionaire walking down the red carpet and being interviewed on television. There’s no doubt in my mind, having seen the film, that these are the true stars and they deserve some recognition.
In the week leading up to the Academy Awards, there were reports that the kids wouldn’t be attending, because their parents refused them permission to travel. Thankfully, they changed their minds, and the child actors got their day in the sun.
It’s great to see the kids talking about their experiences, and they all seem to be loving the attention. The clip is only ruined when the director pulls away to show Sarah Jessica “horseface” Parker turning up. We don’t care about her – more of the kids!
