The Soul series of games has been with us for many years and been available on many platforms. Starting in 1996 with Soul Edge on the Arcade, this video shows us the latest in the series: Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny on the PSP.

This preview video from E3 2009 shows us gameplay footage as well as some of the intro movies and fighting sequences. This is one gorgeous looking game, especially when you consider it’s on a handheld rather than a powerful home games console.

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny shares features and content with Soul Calibur IV, the previous iteration of the series. However, there are two new characters in this game, the original Dampierre and Kratos from God of War.

This game looks like it could be the best in the Soul series so far, with the character creation mode more refined than ever and some good looking gameplay and controls. It’s out on September 1 for the PSP.
