Star Wars still has a massive following, even 30 years after the original film in the series was released. I’m a fan and I still go looking on YouTube for Star Wars videos.

This video is great, showing the Top 10 greatest sounds from the films. I actually disagree with the order of the 10 but all my favourites are there or thereabouts so it’s all good.

I love the noise the TIE Fighters make as they sail past the camera, not only conveying the speed but also the menace of them.

My next favourite is probably the seismic charges from the new trilogy with Ewan MacGregor, Liam Neeson and Natalie Portman. The sound they make with the delay between exploding and impacting is really evocative.

Lightsabers were always going to be at number 1, and rightly so. From the sound they make when they extend to the cracking noise they make when they make contact with something.

Ever since I saw the first film in my childhood, I have wanted my own lightsaber. Unfortunately it’s never come a reality. Now I’m 30, maybe I’ll go and buy one at last.
