We all know about coal and gas reserves slowly dwindling, but did you know sand is also a non-renewable natural resource humanity is dwindling to nothing?

As Tom Scott explains in this video, the building industry uses billions of tons of sand each year. And not just any sand, but sand from beaches.

Sand takes millions of years to form, so every grain we mix with cement to build houses is lost, never to be replaced. Which is something else we, as a species, needs to start worrying about.
