I haven’t actually seen a full episode of The Bachelorette, and after seeing this sneak peek of the show and reading up about it in order to write this post I never will do.

This video shows a sneak peek of episode 9 of series 8 of The Bachelorette. We see Emily, the bachelorette of the title, go on fantasy dates with the three men she has narrowed her potential suitors down.

Am I the only person who thinks the very idea of this show is abysmal? You can’t fall in love with someone so quickly, let alone be prompted to propose marriage to them at the end of the process.

For a country that takes marriage so seriously it can’t accept the idea that gay people may want to commit in a similar way it defies logic the U.S. produces a show that mocks the institution in this way.
