The Hunger Games is obviously massively popular, but there have been other young adult fiction novels dealing with dystopian futures. One of which is called The Giver.

With the hype surrounding The Hunger Games showing no signs of dissipating, many people are on the lookout for other books of a similar style they can sink their teeth into. The Giver may be a good choice for some.

The Giver is by Lois Lowry and was first released in 1993. It tells of a dystopian future where the community lives a sheltered life of ‘Sameness’. But the main protagonist sees an alternative option.

If you have already read and loved The Giver then you may want to check out Gathering Blue and Messenger, two further books that form a loose trilogy. Another book in the series, called Son, is also on the way.
