Writers are a strange bunch, inhabiting the worlds they create, sometimes at the expense of living in the real world. Hollywood has used this as the backdrop for a number of movies through the years, of which these are probably the top picks.

This list of ten spellbinding films about writers was compiled by Cartridge Save. You can see videos clips of all the movies mentioned below on the original post.

At number one is Wonder Boys, which you can catch a glimpse of in the video embedded above. Starring Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, Robert Downey Jr., and Katie Holmes, this twist-filled drama is truly captivating.

1. Wonder Boys
2. Shakespeare In Love
3. Kafka
4. Shadowlands
5. Adaptation
6. Barton Fink
7. Wilde
8. Capote
9. Quills
10. Finding Neverland

Being a (wholly unsuccessful) writer myself, I find these movies interesting as they show Hollywood’s portrayal of writers, be it good or bad. But there would, of course, be no movie industry without writers – the unsung heroes of films.
