UVNtv

Ice Cube accomplished a lot since his split with the classic hip-hop group N.W.A. back in the 90’s.

He’s had a successful solo rap career, starred in movies, and now, he’s teaming up with producer DJ Pooh to start an online TV station.

Currently, U View Network Television (or UVNtv) has 12 different streaming channels and plenty of on demand content. Not only is UVNtv like a TV station, but it also showcases user-generated videos too.

Content Available

Here’s a list of exclusive channels on the UVNtv:

  • DIDDYTV (by P. Diddy)
  • Rockstar (game previews)
  • Snoopadelic (self explanatory)
  • The Daily Chronic (brought to you by Dr.Dre)
  • The Source TV (the magazine)
  • HipHop247 (non-stop hip-hop music videos)
Screen

Much like the TV Guide, UVN also has a schedule of what appears on each of the channels in advance. You could always watch videos on demand, but be prepared to sit through a few commercials. Pey-Per-View video will soon be available.

Pros:

  • Streaming shows, movies, and music videos
  • HQ 720p streaming video
  • Full-Screen Capability

Cons:

  • Registration required
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must install Microsoft’s Silverlight Plugin
  • Unable to pause video

Bottom Line:

The site just launched, so it’s only natural that a few bugs still need to be worked out. By using the Silverlight plugin, use is limited to compatible computers. When the next version of Silverlight is released, expect big things from this site.
