Vintage Parkour Video | Modern and French? Pah, This Is Parkour From The 1930s

37 sec read

Parkour is a sport originated in the 1990s by a group of Frenchmen lead by David Belle and Sébastien Foucan. Or at least that’s what they’d have you believe. In fact, as this video shows, parkour has been around a lot longer than that.

Here we get to see a guy demonstrating all the essentials involved in parkour, including some moves that look exactly like their modern equivalents. But this footage was shot in the 1930s rather than last week.

OK, so this guy is slightly less graceful than the current sportsmen who partake in parkour but that’s just because the sport has evolved somewhat since those days. You cannot deny that this guy is very athletic and skilled.

Parkour is one of those sports I’ve always wanted to have a go at. But apart from the complexities of getting my rather large frame around, I can’t stand the thought of people pointing and laughing, and believe me they would.

Which is why parkour will never take off, because ordinary people just look too stupid partaking.
