Vlingo has been catapulted into the mainstream thanks to Siri, the Apple-only, iPhone 4S-only, voice-activated personal assistant. And I want it.
Siri was unveiled last week as part of the iPhone 4S unwrapping. It’s a virtual assistant that lives on the iPhone 4S waiting for you to tell it what to do. It made the news there was no iPhone 5 a little less disappointing.
Unfortunately Siri is an iPhone 4S-only affair. But not to worry, because there is an alternative for Android handsets. It’s called Vlingo and this video demonstrates a little of what it’s capable of doing.
Perhaps Vlingo isn’t as accomplished as Siri right now, but with a little work it could rival it. And there is no need to spend a fortune on upgrading to an iPhone 4S to get it. Which is a great result.
