Watch Angelina Jolie’s Brave Message | double mastectomy (Video)

52 sec read

Once again Angelina Jolie has proved herself to be a courageous and caring enough individual to show that she is human like the rest of us and cares about other people’s suffering enough to air her own personal business. This woman is one of the few celebrities out there who doesn’t act out crazy stunts for attention but rather, calls attention for her good behavior.

“I do not feel any less of a woman,” Angelina Jolie wrote in the Times this morning after informing the public of her brave deeds for a greater cause.

By making public her story about how she dealt with the high risk of getting breast cancer, Angelina Jolie has done a real service for women around the world. Her decision was made after getting genetic testing for susceptibility to breast cancer and having had the results turn out positive. Her double mastectomy has been brought to light to help inform women with a history of breast cancer in their families about the need to seek out testing and counseling.

For a woman whose career is tied to her appearance, her willingness to talk about her decision provides support to women and their partners who may face a similar difficult choice. As it is, the money it takes to have this type of surgery is a hefty fee and insurance doesn’t cover it. Maybe we should also bring to light this issue and do something about it for women worldwide.
