Scientists are now reporting that the magnitude of the Chile earthquake has shifted the Earth’s axis and caused our days to get shorter.

While the day getting shorter by just over one microsecond may not seem like a big deal, think about it in terms of a single earthquake at a single point influencing the entire planet.

Seems a bit more powerful now, doesn’t it?

There is no doubt that the harbingers of doom and gloom with bring this up as a sign that the end is near. However, I choose to take it as a reminder that, for as powerful as we are, there is nothing we can do if Earth throws a tantrum.
