Actually, death is where they stop unless the rare occasion of an escape occurs.
According to comments made on the video, this really is an ant death spiral. One army ant turns around, and so do they all, creating this amazing spiral.
Amazing as it is, the spiral will continue until they they die or somehow some ants manage to escape. Even the dead bodies of other ants won’t stop the spiral.
This is one of those weird, tragic things that happens in nature that serves as a message to humanity as well…
