Well, it wasn’t quite the ‘text from the President’ that some people were making it out to be, but FEMA has in fact completed their first test run of the new ‘wireless emergency alert system’.
Most people across the United States received the test alert – whether they liked it or not. You can’t opt out of the alert system – even if you happen to be receiving the alert on your shiny new Apple watch.
There is, of course, the option of just shutting off your phone or other wireless device, but is it really so bad to get a warning if there’s imminent danger?
