Check out this video showing the ‘pen and paper’ method for solving this question from the January 2010 Geometry Regents.

This is the kind of stuff that always pissed me off in university (not so much in regular school because they are exposing you to a variety of topics).

I had to learn all this stuff, and while I don’t mind geometry, do you think there has ever been a time I have needed to solve for x – much less make a graph of it – in my actual life?

Not so far.

That being said, I hope that those of you who need this will find it useful.
