The 2006 series Jericho is back this year with seven new episodes. The show returned last February with lower than expected ratings, but CBS wouldn’t dare to pull the plug again.
Last time the show was canceled, tons of fans went “nuts”. Literally.
Usually fan campaigns don’t work, however, this one was so ridiculous that it did. When the show was canceled 5,000 fans all over the world pitched in over 54,000 to send 20 tons of peanuts to flood CBS offices. The inspiration for the tactic came from a quote character Jake Green said during the season one finale.
Since then, ratings have been less than expected with 7.13 million viewers on the opening episode. But the show still has a strong online fanbase of over 500,000 streams per episode; more than 4x the amount of Quaterlife views.
