Olympic silver medalist marathon runner Meb Keflezighi did America proud in the 2009 New York City ING marathon by becoming the first American to win the marathon since 1982.

New York certainly doesn’t wait around for people to get over their Halloween hangovers, do they? November first comes along and it is straight to the marathon!

I am genuinely happy for Meb and for America. It has been a while since Americans have had someone inspiring to look to.

While winning the NYC marathon might not seem that great to some people, it is quite the accomplishment and something people can be proud of.
