Residents of southern California are in for a wild weather ride as tornado warnings have been issued for Long Beach, Orange county, Los Angeles county and more areas.

Having grown up in the midwest of the US, tornado season was something I became rather used to along with the watches, warnings and advisories.

It wasn’t until twin tornadoes swirled around my house with me inside (thankfully we had a basement) that it really hit me how important these early warnings are.

To all the residents of southern California, I hope that you are taking appropriate precautions and that you will be safe.
