Around the world, people are becoming more interested by what is happening above us.

Tonight (Oz time), June 21st, is the Summer Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere and Winter Solstice in the south. For thousands of years these have been times for celebration or ceremony, but many people today could not tell you what it means.

Here is a simple yet complete explanation for just what is going on as the south sees the shortest day and the north has their longest day.
