As a writer, this sort of video essay is important for me to remember to avoid easy to fall in tropes for my characters. However, as a consumer of media, I find this sort of thing interesting too.
Within the first five minutes, the video covers the introduction of ‘the tough girl’ and how she fails to live up to the expectation set within her introduction.
You see it time and time again, but this is the first time I’ve ever really thought about it.
