Wes Carr has won the sixth season of Australian Idol, snatching the title from lovable sheep shearer Luke Dickens.

Thankfully for us, Wes won’t release the kind of unbearable torch song we’re used to hearing from Idol contestants. Instead he’s actually been handed this brilliant bluesy number called “You.”

This is how all winner’s singles should be. It’s the sort of song you want to turn up when you hear it on the radio, the sort of track you might actually want to buy.

Wes delivers it with all the finesse and fun we expect from him. With his consistently energetic performances and exceptional musical chops, he’s a very worthy winner of the Australian Idol title.
