There’s a rumor going around the internet that if you give an egg to an animal that that animal will protect the egg, no matter what.
It’s based on the idea that animals are instinctively protective of a fragile thing, and will do what they can to keep it safe.
This video shows one woman testing this theory by giving an egg to her cat. Which promptly pushes the egg onto the floor without batting an eyelid.
So it turns out that this theory is utter bullshine. At least when it comes to cats. Other animals may well protect eggs, but we now know that cats couldn’t give two hoots.
