The must-have toy this Christmas is apparently the Zhu Zhu Pets hamster. This, essentially, is a robot hamster which scurries around in a non-lifelike manner on wheels. Kids clearly have no taste these days.
This video shows two young children playing with their newly-acquired Zhu Zhu Pets hamster. It has its own funhouse and even its own car. Because, of course, that’s what real hamsters have.
These kids look like they are enjoying playing with their new fake rodent, so I guess it can’t be all bad. However, I’m guessing they’ll tire of it really quickly, in the same way most kids tire of a real hamster.
The truly sad thing is that some retailers are upping the price of this toy because of the demand for it. What was once being sold for $20 is now upwards of $100 in some places. Don’t be ripped off – get your kids something better and with more longevity.
