2009 Ball Drop In Times Square Video | Dick Clarks New Years Rockin’ Eve Celebrations

2009 has arrived! WE’ve already seen the new year welcomed in in Sydney, Australia, and now here is the moment 2008 ended and 2009 began live from Times Square in New York City.

The build-up show was hosted, as always, by Dick Clark. His New Year’s Rockin’ Eve has been with us since 1972, and apart from a short break due to Clark suffering from a stroke, has been an ever-present in the TV line-up.

This video shows the five minutes prior to the ball dropping and new year being officially welcomed on the eastern side of the United States of America.

Unfortunately, due to Clark suffering from affected speech, Ryan Seacrest has taken over as the ain host of the show, with Clark relegated to playing second fiddle. He’s still the main man though, and New Year’s Ever wouldn’t be the same without him.
