I’m not sure he’s in that league yet, but American Idol contestant Adam Lambert is shaping up to be just as enigmatic.
It’s hard to believe that this reserved soul singer is the same man who gave a dark Indian twist to “Ring of Fire” last week. The make-up, nail polish, and spiky hairstyle are gone, replaced with a demure exterior befitting a 1940s crooner.
But this is no mere surface act. This performance of “Tracks of my Tears” is beautifully understated too, showing none of the signature Adam flash. It’s unexpected and gorgeous.
