Ramsey Street is normally a quiet Australian community where, as the song goes “good neighbors become good friends.” But then setting of the popular Australian soap opera Neighbours got a lot darker recently with its Underbelly spoof.
The cast of Neighbours lampooned the hit local crime show in this sketch originally intended to be played during this year’s Logie Awards. Organizers deemed the clip too racy though, and it was cut from the ceremony.
It is a bit confronting watching sweet Susan yelling expletives and Toadie brandishing a gun, but that’s just what makes it so appealing! The Logies might have preferred to play it safe, but I’m glad Neighbours didn’t!
