By now you’ve probably seen the video of George W. Bush having shoes thrown at him by an Iraqi journalist. I think we now know where the journalist got the idea from – Austin Powers villain, Random Task.
This video shows the scene from Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery when Random Task throws a shoe at Austin. Unlike Bush, Powers doesn’t manage to dodge out of the way and gets hit on the head.
Powers responds by saying “That really hurt. Who throws a shoe?” before following it up with “You fight like a woman!” I wish Bush had quoted those lines, then I could have actually liked the guy despite him having been a terrible President.
Random Task is himself a spoof of Oddjob, the steel rim hat wielding villain from the James Bond film, Goldfinger. Is it bad that real life is now mimicking Hollywood? Whatever next? Will Barack Obama have a ‘Mini me’?
