Spoofs are extremely hard to pull off. Which is why Blazing Saddles and Spaceballs are held in such high regard for actually working in an otherwise disappointing genre.
Space Station 76 is a new entry into the genre, being a spoof of retro sci-fi films. It’s a sci-fi thriller made as if it was 1976, which sounds odd but may actually work.

The fact everything is so understated is genius. This wouldn’t have worked if they’d played it for raucous laughs. As it is, I have high hopes for Space Station 76.
