Tom Hanks is widely regarded as one of the nicest people in showbusiness. And yet, like everyone, whether or not they’re a celebrity, Tom Hanks can be a dick.
This is CES 2009, and Angels and Demons is set to be released shortly. And who should show up on stage for Sony’s keynote but Tom Hanks, the star of the movie.
Hanks then spends 10 minutes trolling Sony, mostly reading out what’s on the teleprompter, but doing so in such a way to make it obvious he isn’t there by choice.
Essentially, Sony put it in his contract that Hanks had to attend CES, and while he delivered on that promise, he used sarcasm as a weapon.
Tom Hanks has never been asked back to CES.
