The sport of free running (or la parkour) has always amazed me. Scaling buildings and flipping onto rooftops is always entertaining. So naturally, when I found this clip of a la parkour video game I was excited.
Unfortunately, this in-game footage doesn’t look so interesting. I didn’t think it was possible, but video game developers have managed to make free running kind of, well, boring.
Sure the concept seems cool, but after about 30 seconds of the same running around and unrealistic jumping and gliding, the game seems a bit repetitive. I’ve played games like Spiderman before, and they look 5x more fun.
This is probably because there isn’t any real competitiveness with the sport free running. Perhaps they should incorporate some sort of objectives or tournaments into the game rather than just running around aimlessly.
