Although it hasn’t been mentioned in the major media (as of yet) today is actually “Wear Purple Day” in honor of the recent suicides that occurred as a result of homophobia.
I couldn’t find a news clip concerning the day, so here is a sweet PSA done by high school students.
It’s a shame that I didn’t hear about this day earlier. I would have totally worn purple to show support, except I don’t own any purple clothing! Apparently the Facebook page setup for the day has 1.5 million supporters.
So why purple? Purple is the part of the LGBT flag that represents “spirit.”
