This is Our Day Will Come is a new song by Amy Winehouse. Yes, that Amy Winehouse who died earlier this year. Like other dead musicians, she had unreleased material which is now being released.
I have very mixed opinions on this. It proves Winehouse still had talent and the ability to turn it on when she could be bothered. But it’s not as great as some people are claiming.
This track features on Lioness: Hidden Treasures, a whole album full of unreleased songs and alternate takes on songs released when she was alive. A cash-in by the family? Possibly, but it’s their right, I guess.
Winehouse was clearly a talented woman who just couldn’t cope with her demons. Which gives this song a haunting quality. And will do the same for the whole album, I suspect.
