At first glance this MGMT film clip for “Kids” looks incredibly cool, like a surreal nightmare with its monsters and zombies. But there’s a much more sinister side, and it’s not the band’s terrible silver outfits.
I just can’t help thinking about that poor kid. We all know children so young can’t act as adults can, so we know the emotions we see are genuine fear. And looking at the freaky characters this tiny tot is facing, I can’t say that I blame him.
Clearly the video is a comment about the way children perceive the world, but the band made it at what cost? Was this bub exploited, and will he be scarred for life as a result? Something tells me this music video’s going to mess him up, big time!
