This is the teaser trailer for Star Trek: Infinite Space, a new Star Trek game based in the Deep Space Nine universe and timeline. And I have to say it looks very impressive. Even more so because it’s free and playable in your Web browser.

MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) games are big business. Everyone knows about World of Warcraft, but there are masses more out there to choose from, many of which are free and require no subscription to play.

One that isn’t quite out yet but is coming soon is Star Trek: Infinite Space, a new MMO from German games developer Gameforge. And even seeing this short video makes me want to get involved.

The browser-based Star Trek MMORPG has been in development and promised for release for a long time now, and fans are getting impatient. Thankfully the 2011 release date looks like sticking, so we’ll all be playing Star Trek: Infinite Space in the next few months. Hopefully.
