“Supergirl star Melissa Benoist has bravely opened up about her domestic violence ordeal at the hands of a former partner, sharing the horrific details of her abuse.
“The 31-year-old, who has played Kara Danvers aka Supergirl since 2015, posted a heartbreaking video to Instagram on Wednesday to recount her ordeal with the caption: ‘Life Isn’t Always What It Seems.’ During the highly emotional video, Melissa does not name her abuser but explains how she is a ‘survivor of domestic violence or IPV (intimate partner violence)’.
“The TV star revealed of her abusive former boyfriend: ‘He was a magnanimous person, who didn’t really give you a choice not to be drawn to him. He could be charming, funny, manipulative, devious. He was younger than me, his maturity obvious.”
