Where would one be able to find a clear-headed fish with 360 degree rotating eyes?

2000 feet deep in the Pacific Ocean of course!

The Macropinna microstoma (as it is scientifically called), had been known of since 1939. However it wasn’t until scientists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute caught the fish on video that the Barreleye fish could be studied for the first time alive.

As you can probably tell from the video, this fish is perhaps one of the most unique recent animal discoveries- it’s appearance is unreal! After remote-controlled robots finally found the fish, it became even harder to capture due to it’s extreme sensitivity to light.

I still can’t get over the fact that what I’m seeing isn’t a computer generation.
