As an Australian I’m willing to admit that I don’t know a lot about ice hockey. But even I can appreciate the awesome skill involved in making this play.
Here we see Rob Davison skating nearly 200 feet away from his goal line, yet still fixing to take the shot. The puck careers down the ice, and is no match for goalie Vesa Toskala.
From where I sit it looks like an easy block. Maybe he was just so stunned the puck made it so far? Whatever the case, Rob Davison is a bit of a hero and this goal is destined to make sports highlights packages for the next decade.
