Amazon UnboxAmazon and TiVo have some extremely exciting news.

In their joint announcement, the two multi-million dollar companies stated that movies available in Amazon’s Unbox department can now be accessed by those who use Series 2 and Series 3 TiVo set top boxes!

This is an awesome and convenient solution, especially for those who do not own personal computers. Many of TiVo’s customers can now order pay-per-view movies and TV shows from Amazon.com’s download service straight from their TV, without the use of a PC.

There are about 10,000 movies and shows to choose from, so your selection is huge! If you have the opportunity to utilize Amazon Unbox, you’ll end up paying about $4 for a movie rental and about $2 for a television show. This isn’t too bad, considering what you normally pay at a movie rental store.

It’s just a matter of time for us to see how successful or unsuccessful this venture is. Personally, I’m hoping it’s the former rather than the latter.
