Amazon Unbox on TiVo

TiVo has launched the new Amazon Unbox service today! Here’s what it says on the TiVo website:

“Amazon Unbox on TiVo service is a new TiVo feature that lets you rent or buy movies online from Amazon Unbox, download them to your TiVo box over your home network, and enjoy them right on your television set whenever you want.  With a TiVo box and a broadband connection, you never have to drive to the video store or wait for a DVD to arrive in the mail again.”

Currently there seem to be only a limited list of titles available to rent of but, but this is likely because it is taking Amazon some time to convert all their moves over to the TiVo format, so more should be appearing all the time.

You can’t currently browse the video store from your TV set, so you’ll need to buy videos on the internet using your computer, all the video you buy or rent will be sent to your TiVo DVR automatically. Purchasing directly off your TiVo should be in the works and available sometime soon.

If you register for this new broadband service by April 30, 2007 you will get $15 in free movies and TV shows.
