Japan’s Ayumi Morita will be making her first Olympic appearance this year in Beijing playing women’s doubles in tennis. Though she wasn’t originally meant for the games – not meeting any of the initial requirements – her partner from the Fed Cup, Ai Sugiyama, was in need of a partner.

And Ai Sugiyama just happens to be world number three for women’s doubles. However, her usual partner is from Slovenia, and different countries can’t pair up in the Olympics.

Thanks to how well the two played together at the Fed Cup, Ayumi was selected to be Ai’s partner. Ayumi is very excited about playing some great tennis and representing her country.
