Things move pretty quickly online. Last week we saw improvisational pianist Merton performing an Ode to ChatRoulette in the style of Ben Folds. Now Ben Folds himself has performed his own “Ode to Merton” live in concert.

Just like Merton, Ben Folds finds random strangers through ChatRoulette to sing about. It’s a risky endeavor but Ben manages to find the humor in any situation, whether he’s singing about Bam on the can or the laidback tool with his big knee.

It amazes me that so many people seemed nonplussed about their appearance in this video. It’s almost as if rock stars connect to them online during concerts all the time!
