Big Brother continues on, with a new series in the U.S. starting this week. This video shows two of the promos aired before Episode 1 of Season 14.

The Big Brother format is one of those with endless appeal. At its core is the idea of putting a bunch of strangers together in a house shielded from the outside world in order to see what happens.

The U.S. version of the show has evolved over the 14 years it has been on TV, and not necessarily in a good way. I find it very gimmicky and a little cheap, but that seems to be what viewers appreciate these days.

Big Brother is essentially a popularity contest, so whoever comes across well to viewers watching at home will end up winning the $500,000 prize money. Which is a nice total for a few weeks of non-work.
